3 days on Bears Trail
Karelian Karhunpolku - translated: The Bears Trail - is the famous long-distance hiking trail, leading from Teljo in North to Patvinsuo Nationalpark in South through the beautiful hilly parts of North Karelia. Our 3-day-hiking-trip with english speaking guide shows you the most beautiful parts of the trail from Teljo to Lake Suuri Piilonen. We have overnights in wilderness cabins, tents or in windshelters with open view to the sky. An unforgettable experience, bringing you nature and silence closer than ever before.
Day-by-day-program
A 3-day-adventure for active people, an unforgettable time in the big forests of Eastern Finland. Hike with a local guide on the famous hiking-trail “Karhunpolku”, near the Russian Border. Enjoy 1 overnight in a wilderness cabin, and one in tent or in a windshelter.
Day 1 | Arrival at Eräkeskus should be around 10h00 in the morning. Optionally we can book you a room for the night before the tour in out guest house. Meet your guide and other hikers in the lodge. Together we get the bags ready, then we get transferred to Teljo, where we start our 3-day-hiking-trip. Of course some dogs from the huskyfarm will join us. The „Karhunpolku“ is the famous hiking trail in North-Carelia and leading us through the most beautiful parts of the area. Today we hike 18 km through light forests, along river Jongunjoki, passing the white waters or Otroskoski and Aittokoski, until we reach the little wilderness cabin Valama in the protected djungle-area. Here we prepare dinner and enjoy a refreshing swim in the river. Overnight in cabin or tent. |
Day 2 | After a tasty breakfast we load our backpack again and continue our hike on Karhunpolku direction south. We see some lonely old farmhouses, before we reach the windshelter Laklaniemi, where river Lakla flows into river Jongunjoki. Here we get a break, before heading up further south, along the fishing lakes Änäkäinen to spend the night in a kota or a windshelter. Distance today is 17 km |
Day 3 | Further south we are heading. Lunch break we have nearby lvely little Lake Jynkänlampi. Then we continue until we reach the lake Suuri Piilonen, where the transfer car will pick us up and brg us back to Eräkeskus. Todays distance is 14 km, means by mid-afternoon we are back in the lodge. Here you maybe spend some more nights in the guesthouse or you continue your own trip through Finland. |
